Story
The National Public School in Bihar started in 2014. The project was initiated by The National Organization for Social Empowerment in association with our NGO partners. The project aimed at making primary education easily accessible for children from Karmauni village. Since Bihar has the lowest literacy rate and is ranked the poorest state in India, its population is believed to be growing uncontrollably. And education seems to be a far-fetched dream for children growing up in this state. The project NPS targeted children from destitute families and made education available and fun for them. As part of this project, we distributed free stationaries and books, and we encouraged the families to enroll more female children to the school. We also made sure that a female child is not a liability, but an asset to her parents by spreading awareness that if we educate women, the social stigma of gender bias and inequality would change. And with this change, we could uplift women by making them independent and self-sufficient. Our NPS project worked relentlessly to make free education available for women and children.
